New Philosophy Study Regulations

As of the fall semester 2023, the new Philosophy Study Regulations (dated 19 Dec 2022) will come into effect.

Transfer to the new Study Regulations

Students who are currently enrolled under the 2013 Study Regulations do have the option of transferring to the new 2022 Study Regulations.

To do so, please select the 2022 Study Regulations  (Studienplan 2022) when renewing the semester enrollment for HS 2023, and also mention in the comment box that you would like to transfer to the new Study Regulations 2022.

Deadlines for semester enrollment: May 20 to August 1, 2023.

What’s new with the 2022 Study Regulations?

The most significant change in the new regulations is that you now have two options for taking a seminar:

Seminar mini (4 ECTS, ungraded)
Requirements: Course-related activities (e.g. written solution to small assignments, small written assignments, short presentation).

Seminar plus (8 ECTS, graded)
Requirements: Typically the writing of a seminar paper or multiple written assignments of comparable scope, in addition to course-related activities (e.g. written solution to small assignments, small written assignments, short presentation).

Good to know

If you are enrolled under the new Regulations for HS 2023 and would like to take a seminar plus, please note that you will still register for the seminar mini first. You can decide at a later point in time whether you'll definitely take the seminar plus or you'll stay in the seminar mini.
