My dissertation project "Dispersed Peoples: a Normative Inquiry into Diasporic Identity and Vulnerability" is concerned with the normative dimensions of diaspora. In the first part of my thesis, I aim to develop a conceptual and ontological analysis of diasporic identity as a kind of ethnic identity which is constructed under the conditions of dispersal. The second part turns to considering the social position that diasporic identity places individuals in, and whether this position constitutes a morally objectionable vulnerability.
